Unity of Shared Schooling
The Unit of Shared Schooling (UEC), is a program of specific curricular diversification for students with maladjustment to the school environment and in risk of social exclusion, as a arrangement of attention to diversity for all those students who do absenteeism, show rejection at school, have features of school maladjustment, risk of marginalization and / or behavioral problems. The UEC managed by Fundació Projecte i Vida, serves a total of 24 students, divided into two classrooms
Participation in the UEC, is the last step in attention to diversity and aims to respond to the need for specialized care, Hardly feasible within ordinary school structures, for a group of young people who, being mostly in the second cycle of ESO (General Secondary Education), are unable to follow the pace set for the rest of the group, in order to favor the achievement of the basic competences of the stage and to be able to opt for the title of graduate in ESO with those students who have already exhausted the measures of attention to the diversity of the referring Educational Center.
For these students a curricular adaptation is proposed based on a practical, manipulative and motivating methodology that is concreted with activities designed and organized according to their needs and particular characteristics, thinking of a comprehensive development and training for an insertion in the normalized social environment with the aim of enhancing confidence, reinforce learning and avoid school dropout.
The UEC has qualified personnel, who coordinate with the socio-educational resources of the area that serve students from the Osona region who meet the criteria mentioned above as part of the process of individualized attention. The figure of education acquires the main role, adviser, counselor and support.
As detailed in the "Departament d'Ensenyament" (Department of Education), students must have a minimum of 14 years and a maximum of 16 to be able to join the UEC. This age group directly includes the stage of adolescence, stage of life marked by conflicts of personal and social identity, coupled with maturational, biological and cognitive changes, which frames the risk situation of these young people.
Before the referral, the 4 basic guidelines to carry out the process of referral of a student to the UEC, are exhaustively described to the document of organization and management of secondary schools. It is necessary that the Secondary School have exhausted all measures of attention to diversity with the student susceptible to be derived. In the case that with these measures there is no process towards reconciliation with the ordinary measures, the option of shared schooling will be considered. At this point, a professional mediator (pedagogical coordinator, educational psychologist, teacher of compensatory education ...) will come to coordinate the case of the diversity care commission (CAD) of the same educational center.
This evaluating educational community has to study the case of the minor and make the decisions for their formative continuity according to their personal and family situation. Therefore, at this point, it is essential to inform the family and introduce it as a participatory agent, since the family or legal guardian is the one who has the final say in this referral process.
The first contact with the family is made in the Secondary School, which, in turn, informs the director of the UEC. Next an interview is organized to know the resource. This interview space is doubly beneficial; the family knows the space, the professionals and the new training objectives of their child.
Finalization of the training process to the UEC
Depending on the objectives set for each student and according to their personal situation, there are different reasons why students finish their formative process at the UEC.
• Return of the student to the Secondary School of origin.
• Having reached the age of 18 and not making a positive use of the resource.
• After a month of unjustified absenteeism.
• Voluntary withdrawal.
• change of address, or entry to CRAE, CREI, Justice Center
• Finish the 4th year of ESO and accredit the stage.
Point out that an indefinite post-institutional follow-up is done on demand with all the students who have gone through the resource.
